Ho Ho Ho!

It's that time of year again! Eggnog and nummies and the Grinch - I love them all.

My holiday season started last Tuesday. Mom took me to see Mr. Vet. He shoved the biggest needle ever into my neck and left a little piece of metal called a "microchip" inside me. Momma said that was my big Christmas present: she wanted to be sure that I could get home to her if something happened plus it would help her prove she was really my momma if some nasty person stole me.

Did you know that some poor kitties have a Heart Monster inside them? I can't imagine how horrible that would be, to have to fight a monster every day just to stay alive. Momma says that the Heart Monster's real name is hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and there's a wonderful heart doctor named Dr. Kate Meurs at Washington State University who is searching for magic weapons called "genetic markers" that will someday help slay the monster in us Sphynxies. Momma said that Dr. Meurs needed some of my blood to help forge a magic weapon. I don't like needles but want to help all my bald kitty friends so Mr. Vet stuck another needle in my neck and took some of my blood and mailed it to Dr. Meurs. You can learn more about the Heart Monster work here:  Can You Help Our Sphynx Friends? and Sphynx Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy.

Then Mom saw a picture. They say a picture is worth a thousand words; but the fun begins when a picture sparks a single idea. Anyways, Mom saw this picture of my Sphynxlair.com friend Pooner:

Isn't that the prettiest picture ever? Momma squealed when she saw it and said I had to have my picture taken with santa so she could show everyone. She gave me a bath and a pedicure and cleaned my ears out real good (ooh I hate that) then bundled me up in my carrier and drove a long way to PetSmart (my favorite store in the whole world!).

Mom said that getting my picture taken would help homeless kitties because half the money is donated to shelters. But what's this? I got stuck with a Fake Santa! Poor momma. She thought she was going to get a beautiful picture like Pooner but ended up with this:

Momma said she didn't know if she should laugh or cry. Then she took a picture so everyone can see how pretty I really am.

Then Christmas Day came! I participated in a Secret Santa exchange with my friends over at Sphynxlair. Mom made a video of us opening my present. Look at the neat stuff I got! This is awesome, thank you Secret Santa! The video is too big for my blog so you'll have to watch it on my channel over at Youtube.  Secret Santa Gifts.

I hope everyone has a festive holiday season and that the new year brings health, happiness, and joy to you and your loved ones. Meowy Christmas!
